Replicant Visions
How do you know you’re really you? What if each cell of your body was replaced, one at a time, over a long period of time? Would you still be the same person, or would you be an artificial replica with no connection to your former self? This is a topic, believe it or not, people have wracked their brains with for 2 500 years now (check out Theseus’s paradox). With cybernetics, robotic prosthetics and bioengineering becoming ever more science than fiction, it’s not speculation anymore. It’s real. Whether you’re human, transhuman or wholly artificial, you’ll appreciate the samples found in this pack. Atmospheric, hard-hitting and timbral, these were skillfully crafted by Joey Blush of Blush Response (who also did some great factory content for the Digitone). This pack contains 128 unique samples: 13 Bass, 17 Synth, 28 Kick, 22 Snare, 12 Cyberpercussion, 14 Hat, 8 Cymbal, 3 Tom, 1 Clap and 10 FX sounds that will last you well into the heady future, whether you’ll live 4 or 400 years.

California Drums: Studio City
This Sound Pack by Sanfuentes brings back memories of a time when leg warmers, shoulder pads, and neon pink were in fashion, and we strolled down to the waterfront accompanied by the sound of roller skates and European sports cars. In this Sound Pack, classic drum machines such as the LinnDrum, Oberheim DX, and Alesis HR-16 have been lovingly recorded through an SSL XR627 preamp with a healthy sprinkle of Elektron Analog Heat on top. Perfect for creating both retro and contemporary beats, since these machines (unlike shoulder pads and leg warmers) have never gone out of fashion.

Central Sidstation
The Sidstation was the first synthesizer ever released by Elektron. What really set it apart was its method of sound generation, the legendary MOS6581 chip. Originally used in the Commodore 64 home computer and famous for its gritty yet classic sound, it carries a great legacy. The Central Sidstation Sound Pack does it justice. The Octatrack sampling engine takes it one step further.

Codex
Having an impeccable taste in music, art and cinema is a rare trait in this Age of the Omnivore. Matia Simovich (from the super-classy San Fransisco outfit Inhalt) is one of the few who does. Rather than keep the ideas, sounds and emotions found in the films of Cronenberg or Carpenter, the songs of John Foxx, Human League or Alphaville, or the most memorable of Commodore 64 games locked away in the recesses of his own imagination, he has chosen to churn them through his cortical processing plant and refine them into exactly 128 highly playable, tweakable sounds for the Analog Keys/Four. Every sound is prepped with an individual selection of modulations, filter sweeps and a host of other good reasons to wiggle that joystick. This Sound Pack is pretty much a Codex of everything synth, everything great for the past couple of decades, and counting.

Concrete Ocean
The undulating dance of an ocean and the rigid, textured, slab of concrete may seem like opposites. But somehow Japanese producer Lemna evokes both of these aspects in this Sound Pack. The pack consists of 222 samples ranging from playful toy pianos and chopsticks used as a percussion instrument, via ominous basses and stabs, to atmospheric drones evoking a sense of Neuromanceresque dread.

Curcussion
If you know Matia Simovich, either from his band Inhalt, or for his brilliant Analog Rytm Sound Pack Codex, you know that his palette of sounds is decisively and proudly rooted in the minimal waves emanating from the 1980’s synthpop underground. Disturbance
As a first, exclusively for Elektron, ModeAudio has created a collection of very special samples for the Octatrack. The vast majority of these are of the lush, atmospheric and ambient kind. They are not of the shopping mall or mental ward variety: they definitely aren’t designed to pass through your system without stirring anything inside. Rather, they evolve, evoke and fissure; while some of them are truly soothing (such as gently dripping water, gusts of wind), many of them are also disturbing (the shear of glass shards, burning oil basses). All in all, these crisp, spectrally rich, highly original and expertly curated sounds will prove to be essential for drones, atmospherics, percussion and scoring, or provide the exotic element for any conventional beat or tune.
