How to download purchased sound packs

Your purchased Sound Packs are available for download from your account after purchase.

  • Log in to your account on elektron.se.
  • Go to Account (located in the top right corner of the site).
  • On the account page, you will find your Sound Packs, Registered Machines, and more.

Transferring sound packs to your Elektron Device

To transfer Sound Packs to your Elektron device, you should use Transfer, a free application that you can download from the Elektron site https://elektron.se/support-downloads/transfer. The application is available for both Windows and macOS.

  • Connect the Elektron device to the computer via USB.
  • Open the Transfer application on your computer and then select the USB MIDI port(s) for your device on the Transfer CONNECTION page. Click “CONNECT” (or click “CONNECT” next to your device under PREVIOUSLY USED if it had been connected before).
  • In Transfer, click the EXPLORE tab to open the EXPLORE page.
  • On the top right side, in the drop-down menu, select the type of file you want to transfer (see below).
  • On the top left side in the drop-down menu, make sure “MY COMPUTER” is selected.
  • Under “MY COMPUTER”, navigate to the files or folders you want to transfer.
  • Drag and drop the files or folders to your preferred location on your device. We suggest that you drop them on the first slot of an empty bank for an easier overview of the new content. The content will fill up the empty slots needed above the selected slot. However, they will not spill over to the following bank if the new content requires more slots than is available in the selected bank.
  • Depending on what file type you send, you might encounter pop-up windows asking you to decide what files you want to send and how you want to organize them.

The Sound Pack file type indicates what type of content it contains. For example .mcpst = Model:Cycles preset.

The different file types are:

  • .xxprj: projects
  • .xxsnd: sounds
  • .xxpst: presets
  • .wav: samples

The sample files in the Sound Pack (if it contains samples) are compatible with Digitakt, Octatrack, Analog Rytm MKI/MKII, Model:Samples, and any other sampler that handles WAV files.

Sound Packs that contain sounds or presets also come with a .syx file. If you, for some reason, want to use another SysEx compatible software to transfer the Sound Pack to your device, you can use this legacy .syx file.

For instructions on how to send .syx Sound Packs to your device, please see the legacy Sound Packs Install Instructions Manual.

For information on how to transfer a Sound Pack to the Octatrack MKI/MKII, please see the manuals: Octatrack MKI – User Manual and Octatrack MKII – User Manual.

For information on how to transfer a Sound Pack to the Monomachine/Machinedrum, please see the instructions included with the Sound Pack.
